Xtrusion Overland Transforms a 1988 Toyota Bandeirante Into An Overlanding Gem

Xtrusion Overland has introduced their latest masterpiece: the rejuvenated 1988 four-door Toyota Bandeirante, affectionately referred to as “Bandy.” Boasting a storied history and iconic standing, this timeless vehicle has undergone a remarkable transformation at the skilled hands of the Xtrusion Overland team.

At the heart of this extraordinary overhaul is the specially crafted Bandy XTR1 edition bed rack, meticulously engineered from high-strength extruded aluminum. Complete with a full-length side AXS access Gate and a side slide-out kit, this bed rack maximizes functionality and amplifies storage capacity. It serves as a robust and modular platform tailored for avid adventure enthusiasts, enhancing the overall versatility of the vehicle.

The bespoke Xtrusion machined billet aluminum TBARB1 front bumper takes center stage in this build. Seamless integration of Baja Designs LED lights and a Warn Zeon 12-S Winch ensures that “Bandy” is fully equipped to confront any challenge the wilderness may present. This carefully curated combination of features revitalizes the classic Toyota Bandeirante and elevates it into a true off-road powerhouse ready to conquer the great outdoors.

Xtrusion Overland has spared no effort in their comprehensive upgrade of this vehicle, an ongoing project since October 2023. The latest additions include Go Treads Traction Boards for navigating challenging situations, Black Rhino 17″ Solid Wheels matched with Falken Wildpeak M/T01 35×12.50R17LT Tires for unparalleled traction, Corbeau Trailcat Seats ensuring comfort during extended journeys, and a FreeSpirit Recreation Roof Top Tent for resting under the stars. Visibility is guaranteed with the inclusion of Baja Designs LP6 Pro lights, Squadron Sport lights, LP4 Amber Driving Combo lights, Rock Lights, and an RTL-S LED Rear Light Bar featuring Turn Signals, ensuring optimal visibility even during the darkest nights.

The Toyota Bandeirante has received temporary custom Xtrusion aluminum machined suspension drop brackets, providing the necessary ride height for the increased wheel and tire size. Under the hood, it is powered by the original and reliable 4-cylinder Mercedes Diesel motor. It offers a blend of power and efficiency for those extensive overland adventures, providing a luxurious farm tractor feel.
