2027 Storyteller Overland Grand Bohemian: A Grenadier Made to Linger

The Storyteller Overland Grand Bohemian: A Great Case for Slowing Down

There’s a moment that happens on every long overland trip — usually around day four or five — when the destination stops mattering as much as the process of getting there. You stop chasing miles and start chasing mornings: the light on a ridgeline, the sound of water on stone, the quiet of a camp nobody else knows about. Storyteller Overland built an entire vehicle around that moment. They call it a “Soul Safari,” and the machine designed to deliver it is the 2027 Grand Bohemian.

At first glance, the Grand Bohemian reads like a paradox. It’s built on the INEOS Grenadier — a truck engineered from the ground up for hard, unglamorous off-road work — and then dressed in butcher-block countertops, custom leather, and dimmable mood lighting. But spend a little time with the spec sheet and the paradox resolves itself. This isn’t a luxury camper that happens to have four-wheel drive. It’s a genuinely capable expedition rig that refuses to make you rough it to earn the view.

A Grenadier Underneath, A Retreat On Top

The bones of the Grand Bohemian come straight from the INEOS Grenadier, a platform that’s earned a reputation among overlanders for being built like an old-school Land Cruiser or Defender rather than a converted delivery van. Power comes from a BMW-sourced 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six making 282 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, routed through a smooth-shifting ZF 8-speed automatic. Underneath, you get permanent four-wheel drive, Carraro solid beam axles front and rear, a Tremec two-speed transfer case with a 2.5:1 low range, and a locking center differential — the kind of mechanical layout that serious technical-terrain drivers look for before they even glance at the interior.

Storyteller didn’t stop at the factory suspension, either. The Grand Bohemian rides on EVICTUS™ Prerunner Suspension, a self-adjusting, dual-piston setup that reacts to terrain in real time without the driver fumbling for a compression clicker or a phone app mid-trail. It’s tuned to do two jobs that usually fight each other: soak up Baja-style whoops and washboard at speed, and also calm down enough to make a six-hour highway slog to the trailhead feel like a much shorter drive.

Torque Enduro wheels, wrapped in BFGoodrich off-road tires and beadlock-capable with an optional ring, give the rig a stance that looks as purposeful as it drives. A twin-motor ARB air compressor handles airing down for sand or slickrock and airing back up when it’s time to leave.

Recovery and visibility are both well covered. A GP Factor bull bar integrates a 12.5,000-lb winch up front, and a 360-degree lighting suite — fog lights, driving lights, ditch lights, side lights on both flanks, and rear chase lights — means the truck is just as usable rolling into a dark, unfamiliar camp as it is crawling a technical line in daylight. Towing capacity comes in at 7,716 lbs, enough for a small trailer, a drift boat, or the dirt bikes you didn’t think you had room for.

Living Quarters Built for Staying Longer

The name “Grand Bohemian” is doing some work here, and it shows up most clearly once you step inside — or rather, once you don’t have to step far at all. The build centers on a custom Alu-Cab roof conversion that pops up into a full standing-height living space, sleeping two with room to spread out, and folding back down into a low, aerodynamic profile for travel. A pass-through between the cab and the sleeping area means you can move from driver’s seat to bed without ever opening a door, which matters more than it sounds like it would when you’re breaking camp in the rain or checking on the dog at 2 a.m.

Storyteller Overland Grand Bohemian Interior

The galley is where the “refined” half of the brief really comes through. A hardwood butcher-block countertop tops soft-close, locking drawers, paired with a portable induction cooktop, an integrated stainless sink with a folding faucet, and a dual-zone 21-quart fridge/freezer. It’s a kitchen built to actually cook in, not just reheat in — and it’s backed by a Guzzle H2O filtration and purification system feeding a 10.5-gallon fresh water tank, with a 4-gallon grey tank to match.

Aft of the galley, an L-shaped bench with a rear-facing lounge pad and a slide-out sleep surface — riding on heavy-duty 500-lb roller-bearing slides — turns into the rig’s social hub, the spot where the day actually winds down. Underneath it, a concealed storage compartment swallows several carry-on-sized bags, and rear pass-through storage at both the driver and passenger doors handles everything from a spare carry-on to a stowed compost toilet. Multi-zone dimmable lighting switches between soft white and red, custom Inhabit Design Works floor mats round out the cabin, and left and right rear door fold-down tables give you a workspace or a plating station without eating into the living area.

Comfort systems are genuinely four-season. A Rixen fuel-fired hydronic heating system delivers quiet warmth without the hum of a typical furnace fan, and a compost toilet plus an exterior shower at the rear door cover the basics of extended off-grid living without demanding a full wet bath’s worth of space.

Power That Doesn’t Ask You to Ration

Off-grid endurance is where a lot of adventure vehicles quietly fall short, and it’s clear Storyteller treated the Grand Bohemian’s energy system as a first-class feature rather than an afterthought. A 5.4kWh Lithionics lithium battery bank is backed by a 2000-watt high-capacity inverter and 400 watts of rated solar, all managed through a REDARC control panel with a full-color interface for monitoring power, water, and lighting from one screen.

Four 110V outlets and six USB-C/A ports mean you’re not fighting over charging real estate, and a 30-amp shore power inlet lets you top off fast at a campground or a driveway between trips. A 23.7-gallon fuel tank keeps both the drivetrain and the hydronic heater running well past where most weekend rigs would be looking for a gas station.

Not Quite an RV, Not Quite a Truck — And Certified Either Way

One of the more practical things Storyteller has done with the Grand Bohemian is solve a paperwork problem that trips up a lot of custom-built adventure vehicles: financing and insurance. The rig doesn’t fit neatly into a traditional RV class, but it’s fully RVIA-certified, which means owners can access the same streamlined RV financing, insurance, and service channels as a conventional Class B camper van — without giving up the go-anywhere platform underneath. Storyteller backs the build with a 1-year/15,000-mile limited warranty, layered on top of INEOS’s 5-year/60,000-mile new vehicle warranty on the Grenadier itself.

Who It’s For?

The Grand Bohemian isn’t trying to be the biggest or the most self-contained rig in Storyteller’s lineup — that’s what the GXV trucks and the MODE van series are for. Sleeping two to three with a genuinely small footprint, it’s built for a specific kind of traveler: the couple who wants to disappear into a river valley for a week without sacrificing a real kitchen and a real bed, or the solo overlander who values a compact, technically capable platform over sheer square footage.

It’s a rig that rewards slowing down — long mornings with coffee at the tailgate, evenings on the lounge bench instead of folding into a cramped dinette, showers rinsed off under open sky instead of a plastic stall.

At $198,888 (with financing estimated around $1,339 per month based on a 20% down, 20-year RV loan), the Grand Bohemian sits squarely in the premium tier of the overland market — priced less like a camper van and more like the boutique, do-anything expedition vehicle it’s built to be. For buyers who’ve already decided the destination isn’t the point, that price buys a genuinely rare combination: Grenadier-grade off-road hardware wrapped around an interior built for staying a while.
