ORACLE Lighting Unveils Global Expedition Vehicle Build at the 2023 SEMA Show

ORACLE Lighting Unveils Global Expedition Vehicle Build at the 2023 SEMA Show

ORACLE Lighting, an innovator in automotive LED solutions, unveiled its largest project vehicle to date: a fully-built Stewart & Stevenson M1079 Light Medium Tactical Vehicle (LMTV) global expedition vehicle. Designed to tackle off-grid expeditions and harsh environments, the ultra-capable and EMP-proof bug-out vehicle will also serve as a showcase for ORACLE Lighting products and as a platform for product testing in real-world conditions.

In the 1980s, the Stewart & Stevenson M1079 emerged as a significant departure from the Army’s earlier truck models. Featuring a cab-over design, it offered a more compact and maneuverable option while maintaining a robust 2.5-ton payload capacity with just two axles, reducing the unwieldiness often associated with 6×6 alternatives. The LMTV’s smaller footprint, off-road prowess, and exceptional durability also render it an ideal foundation for constructing a formidable expedition vehicle.

The ORACLE Lighting LMTV maintains its military origins. With a substantial weight exceeding 18,000 lbs, this truck has a 6.6-liter Caterpillar turbo-diesel engine paired with an Allison seven-speed electronic transmission. Its colossal 46-inch all-terrain tires conquer nearly any obstacle and boasts a central tire inflation system. For comprehensive expedition readiness, the ORACLE team installed a Superwinch Tiger Shark winch with a 18,000-lb synthetic rope, a FASS Titanium Signature Series 165 GPH diesel fuel system, and six XS Power 100 Ah lithium-ion batteries.

The vehicle also features a 1,000-watt solar system, a 12-foot power awning, and essential traction boards. Enhancing its cargo capacity, a 75 x 52-inch Go Rhino SRM500 roof rack is accompanied by weather-resistant Pelican BX140R cargo cases. Before adorning ORACLE-branded graphics by PG NOLA, the entire exterior of the vehicle was expertly refinished and painted in a sleek Nardo Grey hue.

Every off-road or off-grid vehicle requires auxiliary lighting, and the LMTV from ORACLE is equipped with cutting-edge lighting technology. It boasts OCULUS 7″ Bi-LED Projector Headlights securely placed in the robust off-road front bumper. The cab proudly displays Universal Illuminated LED Letter Badges in amber, accentuating the custom ORACLE badge. Furthermore, seven ORACLE 9″ Multifunction 60W Round LED Spotlights are expertly positioned on the cab’s roof rack. For added visibility and versatility, flush-mount 5” 24W Angled LED Scene Light Bars and Multifunction LED Plow Headlights with heated lenses provide peripheral and rear illumination.

Although not initially intended for comfort, the LMTV’s cab has significantly improved. It’s been equipped with Dynamat for sound and vibration reduction and then adorned for extended journeys, whether on the road or off it. The updated interior showcases distressed leather and Alcantara craftsmanship by Gleen Hebert at Level Up Auto Interiors, resulting in a complete transformation of the driving experience. The EMP-resistant enclosure, repurposed into a living space, includes tailor-made benches for seating and sleeping areas, bespoke cabinets, plush carpeting, and a Bluetooth sound system for added convenience. ORACLE’s innovative Plasma™ LED strips illuminate the interior ambiance.
